On Saturday, our Principal, Chris Peach, had the privilege of presenting The Prepared Life: Our Montessori Journey at the Montessori Australia Conference, joining Montessori educators from across Australia in exploring leadership, lifelong learning and the developmental journey of Montessori educators.
The presentation invited attendees to reflect on what it means to prepare not only children for life, but ourselves as educators. Through honest reflection, meaningful discussion and shared experiences, the session explored how a Montessori education is grounded in continuous growth, purposeful relationships and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Reflecting on the conference, Chris shared:
“The Montessori community is an incredibly supportive and connected one. It was a pleasure presenting some of the insights and experiences of my journey while also hearing and resonating with others.”
When asked what The Prepared Life means to him, Chris explained that it is about embracing continual learning and growth with an open mindset. While independence is a cornerstone of Montessori education, he believes it is equally important to recognise the value of interdependence, the relationships, collaboration and sense of community that allow individuals to thrive.
One word continued to resonate with Chris throughout the conference: trust.
Whether it was trust in ourselves as educators, trust in children, trust in colleagues or trust within our partnerships with families, this shared theme resonated across presentations and conversations. It served as a powerful reminder that authentic Montessori practice is built on confidence in the capabilities of others and a shared commitment to supporting every individual’s journey.
We are incredibly proud to see MIC contributing to the national Montessori conversation, sharing our experiences while learning alongside passionate educators from across the country. Opportunities like these strengthen our practice, deepen our thinking and ultimately benefit every child and family in our community.
