Children’s House (Ages 3-6)

The early years are a time of extraordinary growth. Between the ages of three and six, children develop independence, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning that shapes who they become.

At MIC, our Children’s House (Cycle 1) provides a carefully prepared environment where every child is seen, valued and supported to learn at their own pace. Guided by experienced Montessori educators, children are encouraged to explore, question, create and discover through purposeful, hands-on experiences that nurture the whole child.

Every shelf, material and learning space has been intentionally placed and prepared to meet the developmental needs of children between three and six years of age.

The Three-Year Cycle

One of the unique features of Montessori education is the three-year learning cycle. Children remain in the same Children’s House community from ages three to six, building strong relationships with their peers and Montessori Guides.

As they grow, children naturally progress from being the youngest learners to confident leaders, learning from older classmates before mentoring those who follow. This continuity fosters a deep sense of belonging, confidence, independence and leadership while allowing Guides to truly understand and support each child’s individual development.

The Montessori Guide

In Montessori, educators are known as Guides because their role is to nurture each child’s individual learning journey rather than direct it.

Through careful observation, Guides understand when to introduce new lessons, when to encourage, and when to step back, allowing children the space to explore, problem-solve and develop independence. By building strong relationships with every child, they create a learning environment where confidence, curiosity and a love of learning can flourish.
