Parent Ambassador – Gawung (Senior Primary)

What do you love about MIC?

I love that my child is respected as an individual with unique interests and needs. I also love the sense of community that is part of being an active member of the school. There are lots of opportunities to get involved and get to know other people if you take advantage of them.

What year did you join the MIC parent community?

We joined in 2018 when our daughter went into Junior Primary after we moved from Melbourne.

How you would best describe your role as a parent ambassador?

Social Coordinator and Information Communicator. This role has two hats, really. There is the part of creating a social community within our Muru-kutchi community and then there is the part of being a conduit for information from the school to the other parents and back.

What’s your favourite thing about your role as parent ambassador?

When I took on the role it was to get to know the other parents and build our social circle, but it’s turned out being a really active member of the wider school community and having the opportunity to understand in much more detail what the school’s vision is and how that is being translated to the experience our children have every day that has been my highlight.
