We’re looking for a capable Grounds and Maintenance Assistant to cover long service leave and continue in a part-time role!

Are you a hands-on, proactive individual who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming spaces? MIC is seeking a reliable and skilled Grounds and Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated team to cover two periods of long-service leave, full-time for three months, followed by an ongoing part-time role.

The Role:

As our Grounds and Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the College. You’ll be responsible for maintaining our grounds and facilities, ensuring the safety and functionality of our campus, and providing logistical support for staff and events.

Key responsibilities include:

– Opening gates and campus facilities each morning
– Performing daily maintenance and safety checks
– Mowing, trimming, and general groundskeeping
– Managing waste and recycling collections across campus
– Maintaining and operating machinery (e.g. mowers, tractor)
– Responding to maintenance requests and minor repairs
– Delivering packages, moving furniture, setting up equipment
– Coordinating contractors when necessary
– Monitoring stock levels of water, cleaning supplies, and paper

What We’re Looking For:

– Experience in grounds or facilities maintenance
– Strong practical skills with tools and machinery
– A proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently
– Good communication and time management skills
– Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
– Current Driver’s Licence
– Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
– Relevant qualifications in maintenance, horticulture or WHS (desirable)
