Why are you involved with Montessori education?
After 15 plus years of teaching (mostly in the mainstream education system), I had children of my own. I wanted to explore alternatives to the mainstream system. My husband and I came to an information session at MIC and I learnt that there was a middle and senior school. I wanted the opportunity to work amongst more like-minded people in a smaller environment.
What year did you commence at MIC?
How would you describe what you do?
I aim to make the MIC curriculum accessible to all under my guidance. This year I am guiding young people in the exploration of Humanities and Visual Arts. Additionally, I work alongside individuals that may have challenges that significantly impact on their learning.
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
I am privileged to be an advisor to a funny, thoughtful and caring group of adolescents and I get to work with incredible young adults in the adolescent and senior phase communities. I enjoy working in a team of dedicated professionals, who share a genuine passion for being excellent at what they do.
