Why are you involved with Montessori education?

The Montessori philosophy of following the child and allowing for the joy of self-discovery completely aligns with my own philosophy as a counsellor. Working therapeutically, I follow my clients and support them to discover new aspects of themselves and their lives they were previously unaware of.

What year did you commence at MIC?

I commenced at the start of 2018.

How would you describe what you do?

As a School Counsellor I support students to navigate the challenges of school and growing up. I focus on different areas depending on the ages and developmental stages of the students. In the early years and primary school my approach is playful, helping with friendships, anxiety, separation and resilience. In adolescents and seniors I focus more on the student as developing into adulthood, their identity through this process and offering skills and strategies to cope with competing demands as they travel through high school.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

I absolutely love meeting with the students. Connecting with a student individually and having the privilege of traveling a small part of their journey with them, makes my job the best job in the world!
