Why are you involved with Montessori education?
I feel strongly committed to the Montessori philosophy which has the interest of the child at its core. For me, this child-centred approach goes far beyond educating children in all of the usual subjects – it is an attitude to learning and a mindful way of life that is underpinned by the values of respect, autonomy, humility, kindness, empathy, open-mindedness and personal growth. I am grateful for this opportunity to work with people who are the very best in their field and truly embody these values every day.
What year did you commence at MIC?
I commenced in 2014 as a contractor; 2019 as a staff member.
How would you describe what you do?
I manage the public profile and reputation of MIC to ensure it accurately reflects our brand, position and values with a view to inspiring families who resonate with our message to join MIC, whilst ensuring our current MIC community understands Montessori and is kept informed what is happening at the College on a day-to-day basis. My role is also to provide expert communications advice to the executive and senior leadership teams and to ensure brand integrity so that all marketing communications materials reflect the College’s brand position and strategic direction.
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
This role provides me with the perfect opportunity to utilise my communications and marketing skills to promote a philosophy I believe in from the bottom of my heart – capped off with the opportunity to work with the most amazing group of inspiring, passionate, dedicated people in the most beautiful surroundings imaginable here on the Sunshine Coast. But my most favourite thing is being able to talk about Montessori all day to people who believe in this way of life as much as I do!
